1) The Risk of the business category,
2) The Volume of monthly transactions,

High risk merchants with high monthly sales turnover in excess of $1 million generally pay between 3.95% – 5.95% in discount rate for their merchant account, start up high risk merchants and, those high risk merchants with lower monthly sales turnover (less than $100,000 per month) generally receive discount rate offerings between 4.95% – 7.50%.
